SoundCloud launched The Upload on 3 August 2026, a weekly playlist where editors hand-pick emerging tracks and publish commentary on each selection. Hypebot reported the launch, framing it as a deliberate counter to algorithmic fatigue.
The detail that matters is the absence of a follower minimum. Most discovery surfaces in music now gate on existing traction, which makes them structurally useless to the artists who most need discovery. An editorial pick with no floor is one of the few genuinely open doors left.
Practical version: upload to SoundCloud with complete metadata, credits and artwork, and submit every Friday. The cost is a few minutes a week and there is no downside to being passed over.
The Upload is one of four new payout and discovery lanes that opened this month. The rest, including Spotify fan remixes and YouTube’s 500-subscriber tier, are in 4 new ways your music pays in 2026.
